Ok, before you even say it, I know what you're thinking... "Great! Another favorable review of The Rich Jerk. Probably another one of his employees." Well, you're only partly right. Overall, I think this guy's shtick is pretty slick, and after reading his eBook, I can honestly say that I've benefited from it. However, I am not one of his employees, and unlike some, I'm not going to say I'm making millions now because of his eBook. What I am going to do is give you an honest overview of his eBook in every day terms and let you decide whether or not it's worth your time and money to look into it further.

Ok, before we get started, let's get something straight. I hate reading long-winded articles about questionable subjects, and I figure the same is true for you. So, if you're looking for an article with a lot of "fluff" and fictitious evidence, look elsewhere. What you're going to get from me is a short and sweet overview, as an honest business man, of "I'm Better Than You - The Rich Jerk's Guide to Making Money Online"

Like I said before, this guy's site is a nightmare! It's stuffed full of so many marketing tricks and terms that I thought I stumbled across the holy grail of all Internet Marketing sites. Like the thousands of other "Get Rich Quick" sites out there, this site just reeks of marketing crap. There's only one twist to this site that kept me reading. This guy's copy is absolutely insulting! I couldn't help but read it. It's hilarious! I don't know if this guy has studied reverse psychology or not, but he sure is good at it.

<strong>Initial Impressions - The eBook</strong>
After reading over this guy's site a couple times, I was pretty well convinced that his product was going to be yet another waste of time and energy, but I figured that if I read the eBook and could write an informative article exposing this guy, the traffic it would generate for me would more than compensate me for the fifty bucks it took to get the book.

I'll spare you the fifty cent overview of the appearance of the book and just tell you this.. It's done right. The look, the layout, and even the security are top notch. This guy wants to make sure that you get the right impression and that you cannot easily replicate his work.

I was quite amazed at how short this book is. There are nine chapters totaling sixty pages. Even for someone like me who doesn't like to read a lot, this was a very manageable chunk of data. The following is a list of the chapters contained in the book.

Chapter 1 - Creating an Affiliate Website that Sells like Crazy
Chapter 2 - Unique Search Engine PPC Strategies that Kill the Competition
Chapter 3 - Search Engine Optimization Strategies (SEO)
Chapter 4 - Selling Your Own Informational Product
Chapter 5 - Buying Wholesale and Selling on eBay
Chapter 6 - Websites you can Make Profitable Right Now
Chapter 7 - Other Online Ventures to Consider
Chapter 8 - Supplemental Info for Beginners
Chapter 9 - Quality Products/Services I Highly Recommend

As you can see, yet more marketing jargon stuffed into the titles of the chapters. I started to roll my eyes and kick myself for wasting my time, but instead, I decided to read on. I'm glad I did.

I'm not going to waste my time and yours going into excruciating detail about every chapter. I'm not a professional book reviewer. Quite frankly, I'm barely good enough at English to write this article. However, I will give you my overall impressions.

This guy either has a split personality, or is exceptionally good at putting on the "Jerk" face on his website. What I found in his book what completely different. It was almost like he forgot to be a jerk and just got straight down to business.

Like many "informational products", this book has a lot of common sense information in it. I'd estimate that at least half of the book is composed of information you can freely find elsewhere, if you feel like investing the time. The other half of the information presented is new information to me, but it may not be so to a well seasoned marketer. I'm a web designer, not a marketer, so I cannot say for sure. I will say that the way the information is presented in this book definitely piqued my interest and made more than a few light bulbs go off in my head.

It's not so much that he was presenting anything to me that was all that earth shattering. It's more of a case of him presenting it in a different way. A way my brain understands and could process effectively. Unlike his site and the chapter index, the book actually had less marketing buzzwords and more everyday language wisdom. He clearly and concisely outlined exactly the steps you would need to take to achieve xyz results. To be completely honest, if you follow the steps to the letter, I don't see how you could not make some money. I wouldn't say you would end up rich, but you definitely could make some extra pocket cash.

The thing that surprised me the most about this eBook is that, while it still heavily focused on Internet Marketing, it contains so much useful information on SEO and starting a legitimate online business. This guy even provides you with a ton of resources, including contact information for wholesale outlets! Whether you're interested in Internet Marketing or not, you might be surprised at what you will find in this book. This guy even taught me a couple tricks about SEO, a service I provide professionally!

Bottom line, if you've got the time on your hands and you're really short on cash, you might want to spend your time on Google researching marketing. Most likely, you'll eventually run across the vast majority of the techniques this guy teaches in his book. Likewise, if you're a seasoned pro, this book might not be a good investment for you as you might only learn a couple new tricks. However, if you've got fifty bucks to spare, or if you are short on time and want to launch your online business quickly, then I personally believe this eBook is worth the money.

I started employing just a couple of the "white hat" tactics outlined in this eBook a couple days ago, and have tried to remain consistent with them. In less than a week, the traffic coming to this site has more than doubled. Given that I'm not selling anything (yet), I'm certainly not raking in the cash. But, I figured, if I'm going to test out this guy's methods, I might as well try it out on a tough market and see how it works. Go ahead, check my Alexa rankings, this guy's tips work.

On a final note... I'm not going to feed you some line of bull. If you are serious about making money online legitimately, there is work involved. I don't think The Rich Jerk would dispute this fact. To see the gains I've seen just in a few days, I had to invest a little bit of my time. However, the time I invested in order to achieve those results is far less than what I had invested before to get less traffic. Essentially, by following The Rich Jerk's tips, I've reduced the amount of time it takes to market my site, while increasing the effectiveness of my efforts. For me, that's well worth the fifty bucks.

You've got my opinion, for what it's worth. Take it or leave it, it's up to you. I know I'll be making more money in 2006.

I remember a friend told me a story awhile back. He had built a small website and had signed up to become an affiliate at a stack of different affiliate programs related to the topic of that site. A few weeks after he had set up the site including links and banners from multiple affiliate programs, he turned his attention to other business interests and lost interest in the site.

A few months later, he noticed that a few checks had started arriving from the affiliate programs he had joined up with. Not large checks, but amounts for a few dollars here and there. That was his first problem – as he was living outside of the USA, lots of small amounts result in lots of bank charges. (Which makes me ask - Why can't all countries allow affiliates to bank checks at NO CHARGE?)

Nevertheless,
the checks continued to come in, and although some of them were posted on his wall as they were so small he couldn't bank them, he wasn't complaining as he was making money he hadn't expected. It turned out that his site had ranked high up on specific keywords in a major search engine, and he was receiving a fair amount of targeted traffic for free. A few months after that he decided to log into all the affiliate accounts he had registered with, and noticed that some of them had not paid him as the amounts were too small, some of them hadn't paid although they should have, and some even showed that they had sent him amounts that he didn't recall receiving checks or EFT or paypal or any other payments for!

So how does working with an affiliate network prevent this from happening, and is this the only reason to work with an affiliate network?

A good affiliate network has a number of different offers which the affiliates can promote, and nearly all the affiliate networks consolidate the amounts the affiliates earn from the various campaigns. This means that the affiliates receive a CONSOLIDATED payment rather than many smaller ones.

However, even with the best of affiliate networks, things go wrong – but with an affiliate network, you would be allocated an affiliate manager, who will help you sort out any issues you encounter. Not 50 different affiliate managers – one for each campaign you are running, as would be the case if each merchant was a standalone merchant with their own affiliate program – but one affiliate manager for all the campaigns. And by building up a relationship with your affiliate manager, when you do need answers, you have one person to turn to.

Of course, once you become a professional super whaling affiliate (the type that lies on the beach while the money pours in – HAS ANYONE REALLY ACHIEVED THIS? Watch this space for a future story about the affiliate beach goers!), you'll need specific campaigns to promote, and that is why, even the best of affiliates belong to multiple affiliate programs and affiliate networks. But this presents even more problems.

So my advice when starting out is to choose one or 2 affiliate networks, become familiar with their system, build up a relationship with the affiliate manager, test out the different campaigns they have, and let them help you achieve the success and results you want to achieve.

Sound familiar? No! Oh, get real! We've all experienced this phenomenon when we absolutely have to write something, particularly on deadline. I'm talking about. . . . .uh, I can't think of what the word is .. . oh, yes, it's on the tip of my tongue . . . it's:

WRITER'S BLOCK!!!!

Whew! I feel better just getting that out of my head and onto the page!

Writer's block is the patron demon of the blank page. You may think you know EXACTLY what you're going to write, but as soon as that evil white screen appears before you, your mind suddenly goes completely blank. I'm not talking about Zen meditation stare-at-the-wall-until-enlightenment-hits kind of blank.

I'm talking about sweat trickling down the back of your neck, anguish and panic and suffering kind of blank. The tighter the deadline, the worse the anguish of writer's block gets.

Having said that, let me say it again. "The tighter the deadline, the worse the anguish of writer's block gets." Now, can you figure out what might possibly be causing this horrible plunge into speechlessness?

The answer is obvious: FEAR! You are terrified of that blank page. You are terrified you have absolutely nothing of value to say. You are afraid of the fear of writer's block itself!

It doesn't necessarily matter if you've done a decade of research and all you have to do is string sentences you can repeat in your sleep together into coherent paragraphs. Writer's block can strike anyone at any time. Based in fear, it raises our doubts about our own self-worth, but it's sneaky. It's writer's block, after all, so it doesn't just come and let you know that. No, it makes you feel like an idiot who just had your frontal lobes removed through your sinuses. If you dared to put forth words into the greater world, they would surely come out as gibberish!

Let's try and be rational with this irrational demon. Let's make a list of what might possibly be beneath this terrible and terrifying condition.

1. Perfectionism. You must absolutely produce a masterpiece of literature straight off in the first draft. Otherwise, you qualify as a complete failure.

2. Editing instead of composing. There's your monkey-mind sitting on your shoulder, yelling as soon as you type "I was born?," no, not that, that's wrong! That's stupid! Correct, correct, correct, correct?

3. Self-consciousness. How can you think, let alone write, when all you can manage to do is pry the fingers of writer's block away from your throat enough so you can gasp in a few shallow breaths? You're not focusing on what you're trying to write, your focusing on those gnarly fingers around your windpipe.

4. Can't get started. It's always the first sentence that's the hardest. As writers, we all know how EXTREMELY important the first sentence is. It must be brilliant! It must be unique! It must hook your reader's from the start! There's no way we can get into writing the piece until we get past this impossible first sentence.

5. Shattered concentration. You're cat is sick. You suspect your mate is cheating on you. Your electricity might be turned off any second. You have a crush on the local UPS deliveryman. You have a dinner party planned for your in-laws. You . . . Need I say more. How can you possibly concentrate with all this mental clutter?

6. Procrastination. It's your favourite hobby. It's your soul mate. It's the reason you've knitted 60 argyle sweaters or made 300 bookcases in your garage workshop. It's the reason you never run out of Brie.

FACE IT? IT'S ONE OF THE REASONS YOU HAVE WRITER'S BLOCK!

How to Overcome Writer's Block

Okay. I can hear that herd of you running away from this article as fast as you can. Absurd! you huff. Never in a million years, you fume. Writer's block is absolutely, undeniably, scientifically proven to be impossible to overcome.

Oh, just get over it! Well, I guess it's not that easy. So try to sit down for just a few minutes and listen. All you have to do is listen? You don't have to actually write a single word.

Ah, there you all are again. I am beginning to make you out now that the cloud of dust is settling.

I am here to tell you that WRITER'S BLOCK CAN BE OVERCOME.

Please, remain seated.

There are ways to trick this nasty demon. Pick one, pick several, and give them a try. Soon, before you even have a chance for your heartbeat to accelerate, guess what? You're writing.

Here are some tried and true methods of overcoming writer's block:

1. Be prepared. The only thing to fear is fear itself. (I know, that's a cliché but as soon as you start writing, feel free to improve on it.) If you spend some time mulling over your project before you actually sit down to write, you may be able to circumvent the worst of the crippling panic.

2. Forget perfectionism. No one ever writes a masterpiece in the first draft. Don't put any expectations on your writing at all! In fact, tell yourself you're going to write absolute garbage, and then give yourself permission to happily stink up your
writing room.

3. Compose instead of editing. Never, never write your first draft with your monkey-mind sitting on your shoulder, making snide editorial comments. Composing is a magical process. It surpasses the conscious mind by galaxies. It's even incomprehensible to the conscious, editorial, monkey-mind. So prepare an ambush. Sit down at your computer or your desk. Take a deep breath and blow out all your thoughts. Let your finger hover over your keyboard or pick up your pen. And then pull a fake: appear to be about to begin to write, but instead, using your thumb and index finger of your dominant hand, flick that little annoying ugly monkey back into the barrel of laughs it came from. Then jump in ? quickly! Write, scribble, scream, howl, let everything loose, as long as you do it with a pen or your computer keyboard.

4. Forget the first sentence. You can sweat over that all-important one-liner when you've finished your piece. Skip it! Go for the middle or even the end. Start wherever you can. Chances are, when you read it over, the first line will be blinking its little neon lights right at you from the depths of your composition.

5. Concentration. This is a hard one. Life throws us so many curve balls. How about thinking about your writing time as a little vacation from all those annoying worries. Banish them! Create a space, perhaps even a physical one, where nothing exists except the single present moment. If one of those irritating worries gets by you, stomp on it like you would an ugly bug!

6. Stop procrastinating. Write an outline. Keep your research notes within sight. Use someone else's writing to get going. Babble incoherently on paper or on the computer if you have to.

Just do it! (I know, I stole that line from somewhere?). Tack up anything that could possibly help you to get going: notes, outlines, pictures of your grandmother. Put the cookie you will be allowed to eat when you finish your first draft within sight, but out of reach. Then pick up the same type of writing that you need to write, and read it. Then read it again. Soon, trust me, the fear will slowly fade away. As soon as it does, grab your keyboard, and get writing!

Content is King! shout the search engines. That's what the search engines love. We also love the non-reciprocal links that we get for our websites when our articles are published on other peoples' sites with our resource boxes dutifully appended below them.
To create a well written article takes time and effort. We have to get everything right: it has to be of relevance to the reader in that subject field; it has to be well researched; all spelling, punctuation and grammar must be correct; it has to be a genuine contribution to that particular area of specialization, and so interesting that the editor will jump at the chance of publishing it. And, oh yes, all the right keywords have to be there, of the right density and in the correct proportions.
The well-crafted article must satisfy both the reader and the bot; both the aesthetics of the eye and the strictures of the code. So those of us who try and be at least a little bit serious about things know that a second draft is always necessary, and then a third. Then it's best to sleep on it. Even after that, we know that we have to forget about it for a few days until we are able to come back to it again with a freshly critical mind. You prune it and nurture it. You take off the sharp edges and you tighten it up. If necessary you know when you have to tear it up and start over again.
Only after we have got it absolutely right - and then after spending many hours submitting to directories, editors of ezines, article announcement sites and individual webmasters - are we rewarded, perhaps, with those hard-won non-reciprocal inbound live hyperlinks.
But wait. There seems to be a problem. It appears that an increasing number of people are quite happy to simply copy and paste our work onto their own sites without a link back. Or they don't bother to check if the link is 'live'.
That would be bad enough. But there are other people who print our articles and then don't even bother to name the person who wrote it.
But there's far worse: those people who print our article and then announce to the world that they wrote it themselves! Some of those even have the temerity to add the copyright sign next to their name!
I may be being a bit too harsh. Perhaps these people don't realize that they're doing anything wrong. After all, the Internet was originally conceived as ownerless and based upon free and open source information. And I can think of nothing more Public Domain, in fact or in spirit, than the World Wide Web.
Yet just consider what it is these people are doing. They are stealing other peoples' work and passing it off as their own. They are effectively also stealing the web traffic that goes with it, the traffic that our labors should be rewarding our websites with, and diverting it to their own. This is blatant plagiarism. It just should not happen. Theft is theft, in whatever medium.
I wrote an article a few months ago on Internet marketing for small businesses. A search for the title of that article on Google now returns 10,800 pages, so at least the title itself has been reproduced that number of times and in that number of different places. A search for a chunk of text from the middle of the article returns 536 pages, which suggests that the article text has been published in its entirety no fewer than 536 times. Great! So now I have 536 inbound links from that one article! Wrong.
I looked at individual entries of the article and in a surprising number of cases there were no backlinks at all. Also surprising - and somewhat sickening - was the number of individuals who wantonly attached their own names to my work.
I recently posted the same article to a fresh source of publishers. I was astonished at the response of one editor of a well-known directory who had rejected the article on the grounds that it was not mine! She had seen the same piece on many other websites under different names, she said, and it was not her policy to publish work that had been produced using "cookie cutter" techniques. I wrote back saying that it really was my own work, citing the URL of SitePro News where it originally aired as that day's headline feature. She apologized and was even good enough to supply me with a list of names of people and sites who had published it as their own. I'm so tempted to publish their names here (perhaps I will on my blog; so watch out!) but have decided that discretion should rule. For the moment, at least.
But I think there is a clear message here. The fashion for article writing and publishing for content and backlinks is going through the roof at the moment. It's like a mini Internet boom all of its own. And like any other boom it has attracted its own inevitable pack of rat-racers, chancers, charlatans and cheats; shysters who go for the shortcuts every time, while remaining quite happy for other people to do their work for them.
For the record, the convention is this: distribute and publish the article freely by all means. But it must be published in its entirety and unedited, and MUST include the resource box with a live hyperlink back to the author's site (or wherever the author wants, for that matter).
Hey, now even my lawyer understands!

Also think about what are your competitors relying on to sell their products. Why would somebody buy their products and not yours? Understand these things and you will become more creative in your offering and you'll be able to touch certain aspects in your sales that will bring you in much profit.
Analyze the market see your competitor's strong points and weak points. If you know what they are doing well you can imitate them, and if you know their mistakes you can avoid them. Use this and you will get ahead.

8. Be ready to negotiate solutions. Keep the discussion open and going until you both agree on which solution to try. This solution should include behavior changes that each of you should make and a potential timetable for making them. Set a date to discuss how well this solution is working.

9. Implement your new behaviors.

10. Meet again to discuss what has worked and what hasn't. For those things that haven't worked, go back to your list of possible solutions and pick a new one to try. Resolve to keep meeting and trying new behaviors until the problem is solved.

Use this technique for resolving any relationship problem you have. It will work as long as each party is willing to accept responsibility for their own part and are willing to try new behaviors until the successful changes are found.

Do I say that these problems are under our control then?

Well, yes and no.

"Come on, get real", you say? Do I hear: "Just show me the right alternate energy sources and we'll get out of this mess."

Yes, we desperately do need to switch to renewable energy sources that do not make a greenhouse out of our home, the Earth. But all the technology in the world will never be enough to survive and flourish.

Renewable energy sources alone will not teach us to accept limits, unpredictability and what it is to lead a rewarding life.

How we have lived collectively, in our billions, for the last few hundred years, has got us to this point. And by changing what we do we can live through climate change as best as we might.

Even now.

It's simple and it's hard work. No way out of that.

Many people with severe disabilities know this. And they report the same or better life satisfaction as anyone else--under highly challenging, vulnerable circumstances.

So, we can learn to live well in a disabled world.

Regardless of what is to come you and I will be well served by the beliefs and strategies that people with disabilities use to - not just to survive - but to live well.

These are true alternate energy sources.

Those that guide us how to use what we have sustainably.

These 'disabled people' believe this:

* Accept that all of us are fragile and vulnerable

* The world is full of limits. We need some of these to live well

* Vulnerability and dependence are an inevitable part of a whole life

* No-one is independent, but interdependent

* Connection with others is our lifeline and our wellbeing

And they do this:

* Engage with others to build positive relationship, where you live, work and play

* Pay attention to other's needs and that of the environment

* Take responsibility for the situation you're in

* Care for others and the environment competently

* Be assertive and use your humour and creativity

Not all people with disabilities act in this way of course. And I'd be the last to portray people with disabilities as heroes. We're just people - trying to get on.

You try that!

Talk to that elderly woman in your street. Offer a hand when someone needs it.

Doing such small things will connect you with others and your environment.

And do also use the 'regular' renewable alternate energy sources, and recycle too.

You can change your local world by acting in these ways.

And if all fails - regardless?

Well, it's the only way to go!

Perhaps your world might be just as hot but it'll be cooler under your collar!

2) Referred Traffic (I know Search engine traffic is also a sort of referred traffic, but let's put SE traffic apart from this category)

What is it? Traffic coming from third party sites (other than search engines) and is a result of a "manual / human" action.

Examples : article directories, social bookmarking services, forums, partners, text link ads, banners, directories, rss...

Pro :

- you control it
- you have a lot of means to develop it (almost unlimited ; a lot are free)
- it's highly targeted
- You can pay to get better targeting and control over your referred traffic
- Long term

Cons :

- Time & resources consuming
- Repetitive tasks

Now, through my membership, my forum, my readings of other forums, I know that most webmasters mainly rely on search engines traffic, our first category.

The aim of the present article is to throw the light on a different angle of the Traffic Generation big box!

Summary : the right way to get into traffic generation is to forget about search engines.

Focusing on search engine traffic gives a too narrow vision of traffic generation. It does not reveal all the opportunities existing outside of the search engines (understand all the way to generate Referred Traffic).

In addition, as you've seen from the cons above, you accept to rely on something you never control, and this is a HUGE risk in your marketing strategy.

Warning : I do not say, you should not care about search engine traffic. I say that it should not be your priority, and the first door you try to open when dealing with traffic generation. It's a question of point of view.

Now, on the other hand, focusing on developing what we called Referred Traffic is a more positive, constructive and profitable attitude and marketing strategy.

Not only will you build traffic for the long term, but you will also "manually" control your traffic, either by submitting your content, your sites, your feeds, or by exchanging links, content, traffic with partners, being active on forums, blogs...

Doing it this way will give you a lot of power and effectiveness. Those sources of Referred Traffic only vanish...if you decide to let them vanish. Once again, you control everything.

Now, you have some positive side effects :

- By building Referred Traffic, you give a lot of food to search engines to index your site, understand them, and rank them well...

- ...thus developing naturally your Search Engine Traffic!

Try to develop Referred Traffic by submitting your sitemap to Google, and you will understand the difference between the 2 approaches :-)

Google and other search engines tend to change their algorithms quite often to produce more relevant content for users of their engines. Sometimes, your site is getting de-indexed in a day just because of this.

Are you lost, is your site dead? It could if you only relied on Search Engine traffic. It has no impact if you focused on building Referred Traffic.

In one case, you feel bad and like if you had wasted your time. In the other case, you don't even notice it (on the long run ; of course, you can see a fall in traffic coming from a given search engine)

But even then, your site has a lot of chances of being re-indexed when you've build Referred Traffic, simply because the search engines food is still there! And this is a HUGE difference and one of the most valuable asset you can develop.

If you're still with me, you should now understand my point : when dealing with bots, you need to act as a human...which means you should not try to talk to them :-) Give them some "bot food" that you build naturally by developing a Referred Traffic Generation Strategy.

Here are 10 easy "pieces" to do what we described above :

Once you have a site...

1) Find some related blogs, read them, identify trends, and post comments (no stupid comments, no spam of course) with a link back to your site where you're also discussing the topic

2) Do the same with related forums. Use search engines (!) to find relevant forums. Register and start being active on these forums. Use your signature to put a link back to your site

3) Create a blog (if you don't have one) and post on a regular basis on it. Use a service like feedburner to syndicate your content with other webmasters.

4) Submit your feeds, blogs, and site to niche directories

5) Find "authority" sites in your niche, analyze them and contact the webmasters to :

a) propose a link exchange (you should first put a link to their site),
b) if you're selling a report or an ebook, propose them to become an affiliate (give them a fre.e copy of your ebook first), and make it easy for them to manage their promotion
c) if they have a newsletter, read it, understand it, and then ask the webmaster if you can have a sponsored ad into it, or even better a solo ad where you could advertise your site, newsletter, ebook...
d) propose content exchange with link back to each other's website
e) build a relation with them

6) The most effective : write articles and submit them to article directories (some with big traffic, and some niche related ones)

7) Social bookmarking and social networking :

a) build a Squidoo lens (see Squidoo Profits for more details: . You can find many sites like Squidoo and build pages about your niche on these ones too. You can link them to your main niche sites, you can link back to your blogs, or even to your other "squidoo" like pages, thus creating a "niche social net" all relevant to your niche.
b) build a myspace account and create a profile around your niche, then build your "list" of friends around this profile
c) submit your site to social bookmarking services (digg, technorati, del.icio.us ...)
d) You can also comment on the most popular entries with a link back to your site, blog, or squidoo lens.

8) Use videos and sites like youtube.com (and similar) to drive traffic to your niche site. Produce a short video (2-3 minutes) around your site, your niche and you. Link to your Videos from your "niche social net" (see 7) ) Also, ask webmasters to put a link to this video (once you have build a relation with them) - Or they can upload it to their server and brand it with their affiliate ID, if you have an affiliate program

9) Make it viral : your best source of (new) traffic...is your (current) traffic!

Use some "Tell a friend" features on your site to have them promote your site. You can provide incentives (such as a free report, a coupon for your ebook...)

10) Paid Traffic : yes...all the above techniques do not cost a penny...(unless you pay for advertising on a partner's site)

You can pay to get targeted traffic : you can advertise through text link ads, banners, that will appear on high traffic sites.

You should seriously consider paid traffic. Do not see it as a cost, but rather as an initial investment to boost your site. Also, if your site is correctly monetized, then paid traffic is the easiest way to get some quick metrics about this, and to make it profitable quickly.

As you see we could easily expand this list. But, those are, in my opinion, the most important sources of Referred Traffic.

Now, compare the above list with Search Engine traffic, and you will see why your approach should focus on generating Referred Traffic and not Search Engine Traffic. This type of traffic will come naturally anyway...
